It's been a rough morning here. The kids were up early, as usual. "Sleeping in" for them is sleeping until about 6:15am. Even on weekends and vacation days, they don't get that you don't have to be up at the crack of dawn. This morning, the sounds of Lego Star Wars on the Wii could be heard at 6:23am. This after we let them stay up a little bit later than their usual bedtime of 8pm.
Princess G went with me to get bagels for breakfast this morning. I could tell from the get-go that this was going to be one of her days.....She was moving slowly, wanted to wear shorts (even though it's pouring rain outside), whined when she couldn't find any jeans, and just about lost it when she got her hand pinched by the retractable headrest in the car (no blood, no damage whatsoever to her hand, but a fit nonetheless). By the time I got home from running two more errands, she was just about at her end.
Hubby went to college at U of Arizona. When one of their basketball games is on, the household stops, all eyes (well, most eyes) glued to the tv. That meant that there would be no more Wii for the afternoon, no cartoons, and no movies. Princess G really lost it...threw herself down on the floor, kicking at her Daddy, crying, whining, talking back......I finally lost it myself. She had to stop, or go to her room. The antics continued. Hubby, M, had had enough himself and took her up to her room. The dramatics are pretty par for the course for her. We have battled the whining with her, the tantrums, the door slamming, the screaming, and foot stomping all to no avail. When she's having a "day", you pretty much just have to turn your ears off, put her in her room and wait it out. She's been up there for about 20 minutes....there is silence. I snuck up the stairs to check and found just the top of her head sticking out from under the covers....She is sound asleep. AMEN!

I LOVE it when they pass out from sheer exhaustion. Hopefully after this nap (and maybe one for yourself) she'll herself again.
Poor Princess G! Glad she got some much needed beauty sleep.
